Pregnancy ultrasound scans in Dimapur

Pregnancy ultrasound scans are done on site at Evita GyneCare — early pregnancy and dating scans, Level I and Level II anomaly scans, and growth and wellbeing scans — by your obstetrician, who explains what was looked at and what was found before you leave. Sex determination is not done at this centre; it is prohibited under the PC&PNDT Act.

Scans we do

  • Early pregnancy scan — confirms the pregnancy is in the womb, checks the heartbeat and the number of babies, especially if you have pain or bleeding.
  • Dating scan — measures the baby to give an accurate due date.
  • Level I scan (11–14 weeks) — first-trimester screening, including the nuchal translucency measurement.
  • Level II anomaly scan (18–22 weeks) — a detailed check of the baby’s development.
  • Growth and wellbeing scans — later in pregnancy, when there is a reason to check the baby’s growth, fluid or position.

If a more specialised test is needed, such as a fetal heart scan, the doctor will explain where it is best done.

Common questions

Can you tell me if it’s a boy or a girl?

No. Determining or disclosing the sex of a baby is prohibited under the PC&PNDT Act, and it is never done at this centre.

How many scans will I need?

Most healthy pregnancies need only a few: an early scan to confirm and date the pregnancy, a Level I scan at 11–14 weeks and a Level II anomaly scan at 18–22 weeks. More are done only when there is a medical reason.

Is ultrasound safe for my baby?

Diagnostic ultrasound used for a medical reason is considered safe. We scan only when it helps your care.

Can someone come with me?

Yes, one companion is welcome during the scan.

Do you deliver babies?

No. We look after you through pregnancy and help you choose a hospital with a labour ward early, so your scans and records go with you.
